While returning from a visit to Yathrib (Madinah) to introduce Muhammad ﷺ to his father's relatives, Aminah fell ill and died in the village of Al-Abwa. The 6-year-old Muhammad ﷺ was now doubly orphaned. Umm Ayman (Barakah) brought him back to Makkah to his grandfather.
